Man charged with DUI in golf cart

A Lake of the Pines man who allegedly was under the influence got pinned under his golf cart when he rolled it.

Daniel Craig Johnson, 46, was driving a Yamaha golf cart on the golf course just before midnight Saturday on the 18th hole golf cart path in the gated development in southern Nevada county, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol.

Johnson allegedly failed to negotiate a turn, causing the cart to go out of control and turn over, pinning him underneath, the report said. Three passengers in the golf cart were thrown out, and they helped get the cart off Johnson. He was transported by helicopter to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with moderate injuries. No information was available on his condition.

Jason Wohlgemutch, 40, of Grass Valley, was the right front passenger, and he was transported to Sutter with moderate injuries. He was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Tara Elise Johnson, 46, and Gabi Christakes, 47, of Grass Valley, were in the rear of the golf cart and suffered minor injuries. Both women declined to be transported to the hospital.

Johnson was arrested by the CHP on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, and the accident remains under investigation.
