Man, 79, dies in boating accident

A 79-year-old man died after a boating accident Wednesday on Bullards Bar Reservoir in Yuba County.

Roy Jackson of Rocklin died of unknown causes at the reservoir after his passenger and rescuers tried to save him, according to Yuba County Undersheriff Steve Durfor.

Jackson was operating the boat around 12:30 p.m. when a wave jostled it, sending him into the water, Durfor said. His passenger gained control of the boat, turned it around, and saw Jackson motionless in the water.

The passenger, people from another boat and later rescuers couldn’t resuscitate him. The cause of death remains under investigation.
