Locks of love

In this photo, Jessica Jeffrey, center, 15, holds a photo of her aunt while looking at potential hair styles with friend Jillian Murphy, right, 16. At left, Jessica’s father, Brian Jeffreys, comforts her mother, Jennifer Jeffreys, at Supercuts in Auburn.

After Jessica’s hair was shaved off, Jillian decided to get hers lopped for Locks of Love, as well, saying it was a sign of solidarity. Supercuts stylist manager Petra Rhone holds up Jillian’s hair before making the dramatic cut.

Jessica, left, and Jillian react to their new haircuts. Supercuts provides the cuts free if more than 10 inches are being donated to Locks of Love, according to the charity’s Web site. Several salons in the Roseville and Sacramento areas offer the service, as well.
