Dr. Stephanie Kirschbaum is now seeing patients at Christensen Optometric.

Kirschbaum, who previously worked as an optometrist for more than eight years at Drs. Chan and Moon in Grass Valley, joined Christensen Optometric, which is located at 290 Sierra College Drive, in December.

Kirschbaum and Dr. Layne Christensen have a long history. The two first met when both were students at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry; for a period of time, they worked Saturdays together at Christensen’s father’s optometry practice in Berkeley, and were both involved in their program’s student government.

“I remember Steph’s enthusiasm and positive personality from way back then,” Christensen said. “When she was available to work, I was thrilled.”

Christensen has been practicing optometry in Grass Valley since 1994, after he relocated to Nevada County from the Bay Area with his wife and six children.

Kirschbaum said she’s looking forward to being part of a practice with deep roots in the community, and one where “people are cared for with the highest professional ethics and concern for their needs.”
