Local fire units quash Colfax fire

A commercial vehicle fire that caused a two-acre blaze on the 22000 block of Plum Tree Rd. in Colfax is currently 80 percent contained, according to Cal Fire officials.

Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, fire units from Placer Hills, Peardale Chicago Park, Placer County, and Cal Fire responded to the call of a vehicle fire that had potentially caused surrounding wildlands to catch ablaze near 22639 Plum Tree Rd.

Cal Fire officials said more than 60 fire personnel, nine fire engines, two hand crews, two water tenders, two air tankers and a helicopter responded to the fire. It was contained by 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
