Local artists’ exhibit of new art: Small in size, big on vision

Following in the footsteps of the 20th Street Gallery’s successful “50-50-50” Art show in Sacramento – in which a number of Nevada County artists participated – 20 local artists will showcase their latest works at the “small works, Big Visions” art exhibit at Summer Thyme’s just outside of downtown Grass Valley.

“Some of our artists are returning from last year’s ’20/20′ art show that we held previously at Summer Thymes,” says Irene Nicolas, curator for this year’s show. “We again limited the number of pieces to twenty six-inch-by-six-inches in dimensions for each artist … that’s 400 original works of art in one show! There will be original oils, acrylics, ceramic wall hangings and even painted Skil saw blades. The creation of these smaller works is a way for artists to make their work more affordable during difficult financial times.”

“I love the process,” says participating pet portrait artist Kathryn Wronski, “you get into a flow when each painting follows a theme. You are almost done with one and you suddenly get an idea for the next. The fun can be that the small piece you create feeds you with ideas for larger works down the road. A great way to explore your craft.”

The exhibit is open for viewing 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
