Livestock competition winners announced

The winners of the Nevada County Fair’s livestock competitions have been announced.

One of the more successful competitors was sheep raiser Georgia Perkins, who had the Supreme Grand Champion Ram, Reserve Supreme Champion Ram, Reserve Supreme Champion Ewe, Champion OMB Ram, Champion OMB Ewe and FFA Champion Market Lamb under the Junior Sheep category.

The Nevada Union FFA won Best FFA Group and Best County Group under the Junior Swine category. Under Junior Beef won Best FFA Group of Steers and Best County Group of Steers.

Master Showmanship awards went to Chloe Smith for Small Animals Master Showman, Chrissy Renwick for 4-H/Grange Master Showman and Sara Eidman for FFA Master Showman.

The 2004 Junior Livestock Auction sales totaled $503,388, and the Ag Mechanics Auction total sales were $15,585.

Clean pen awards went to Carolyn MacGregory for Open Beef, Diana Lewis for goats, Kentucky Flat 4-H for hogs, and Dustin Rossiter for sheep.
