Little Leaguers deserve better

As a 24-year resident of Grass Valley, with two sons playing T-ball through seniors in District 11, I am appalled by Dick Gold’s actions.

District 11 has had some problems in the past. I can remember having to by past the district heads completely, to national level to have a Rocklin win be forfeited because they brought in a traveling pitcher for the district tournament. These are kids and Little League should be fair.

There is nothing fair about Gold’s action with Touchdown Productions. The kids always love it when their game is on TV. They feel like stars and they are if they’ve made it to the All-Stars!

My kids are grown and gone now. But I try to make it to as many games as I can in both Nevada City and Grass Valley. It would be nice to have access to the tournament schedules through The Union. I know this probably due to poor communication by some level of Little League. I think The Union does a good job of reporting the games if the coaches give them the information.

It’s a trill for a parent to hear, “I saw your son on the front of the sports page in The Union.” And believe me, the kids love it too. I’m sure Gold has done a lot for the district, but this seems just petty!
