‘Let my people grow!’

Proposition 19 is as much a civil rights amendment as it is about legalizing the use of marijuana for people over 21.

Prohibition never works; it just makes criminals.

Marijuana should be treated and taxed like alcohol and tobacco. The ballot said that there was potential for hundreds of millions in taxes and fees annually, as well as savings in corrections of several tens of millions.

Passing this measure could also provide jobs, reduce crime, and save police officers time and energy around minor marijuana situations.

Personally, I do not advocate the use of marijuana, or any other drug for that matter, whether legal or illegal. I feel it’s better to be drug and alcohol and tobacco free, but I do feel that people should have the right to choose without fear of arrest.

Whether we use marijuana or not, we can all benefit from its passing. So vote “yes” on Proposition 19.
