League of women voters meeting today

Thoughtful readers of The Union are urged to attend the League of Women Voters meeting today if you are truly interested in understanding some of the underlying problems that make our state so “ungovernable.” Dr. Kim Nalder, associate professor in the government department at California State University, Sacramento, will be the speaker. She has wide experience in many areas of state government and is currently involved in a public opinion research partnership at Stanford, the Institute for Governmental Studies at UC Berkeley and the Center for California Studies at CSUS. She will explore with us some of the “Intended and Unintended Consequence of the Initiative Process.”

Come with your questions and an open mind. If we don’t come away with easy answers, at the very least we will know how to ask better questions in our efforts to become informed voters and responsible citizens.

At 9:30 a.m. there will be coffee and conversation. From 10 a.m. to noon, program presentation. Community Room, Peace Lutheran Church, 828 W. Main St., Grass Valley.
