Lane closures could cause traffic snafus

Potential lane closures will continue on Highway 49 south of Grass Valley this week as crews cut down trees to make way for a wider highway.

The potential delays will last until the beginning of next week between Lime Kiln Road and Pekolee Road, Caltrans Project Manager said.

He said the crews were blocking off a lane only when necessary.

The widening project, which was prompted by a high number of accidents in the area, will begin in June and should be completed by the fall, Brannon said.

Lanes may be periodically blocked off for that project, Brannon said.
