KVMR holds ‘Suicide Awareness’ forum in Nevada City

KVMR Community Radio will present another KVMR Town Hall Forum on the subject of Suicide Awareness from 6 to 8 p.m. on April 9. The two hour broadcast will take place in the KVMR Community Room at 120 Bridge Street in downtown Nevada City. The public is welcome to attend. The forum will also be broadcast live on KVMR and on The Bridge 105.7FM. Listeners tuned in can call in with questions.

Panelists will include Mike Bratton from the MEB2 Foundation; Barbara Coffman, clinical director of A New Day; Maureen Gerecke from the Suicide Prevention Task Force; Jennifer Winders and Shellee Spek from What’s Up Wellness; and Curtis McMullan, clinical supervisor of the Nevada County Behavior Health Department.

“Death by Suicide is a tragedy that has become all too common in our community,” said KVMR’s news director Paul Emery. “This forum brings together public servants and members of our community that are striving to fully understand this situation. They will be sharing their knowledge to increase awareness.”

Listeners can call in with their questions between 6 and 8 p.m. on April 9 at 530-265-9555 or submit questions prior to April 9 via email to news@kvmr.org.
