KVMR brings in series of candidates

KVMR is currently hosting a series of forums for the public to meet its three candidates for the general manager position.

“This is the first time we’ve had a change in general manger in 10 years,” said Mike Thornton, KVMR news director.

Erica Randall is currently serving as the station’s interim general manager. Former general manager Brian Terhorst, who still has his long-standing folk and acoustic music show on KVMR, left about five weeks ago, Thornton said.

Each of the three candidates for the position is appearing individually this week at 7 p.m. in Nevada City, with Wednesday’s and Friday’s meetings at Nevada City Hall chambers and Thursday’s meeting at the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office Conference Room.

The public forums are only one component of the interview, and a hiring decision will be made by the board of directors, said Thornton.
