Well, once again I am amazed at the variety of excellent theater in our community, and Saturday night’s “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” at the Nevada Theatre was no exception. Outstanding acting, particularly by Trish Adair as the tyrannical Nurse Ratched, and the always watchable McCammon brothers, Jimmy and Danny (respectively, RP McMurphy and Billy Bibbit) made for an evening well spent. Don’t miss this show, folks! Plays through Sept. 25.

Thank you to the stranger who lifted my 93-year-old father back into the car after he’d fallen in the parking lot of the Humpty Dumpty restaurant. I didn’t catch him in time and didn’t know how I was going to get him lifted back into the car. I heard a voice asking “can I help you?” To me, you were an angel. You so kindly and gently lifted him back into the car, and were so compassionate. I can’t thank you enough for your kindness! Many blessings to you for your compassion and thoughtfulness!

I write to offer a huge thank you to the Cancer Aid Thrift Store and their patient assistance program. They offer financial help to cancer patients with the costs of prescriptions and out-of-county travel expenses. This help truly has been a God-send to me in recent weeks. My heartfelt thanks to you.

I would like to thank you, Mr. Joseph Justus, for the great crane operator that you are. You made uprighting that airplane and putting it on that flat bed truck look easy. You do free work with your crane at Christmas time to lift people and tree decorations up to decorate the tree in Nevada City.

What would we do without you? Thank you for the work you did on the roundabout in Grass Valley. You have a big heart and I, for one, am very happy to know you.

Thank you so much for putting my daughter’s picture in your paper. It was the one in the sports section on Tuesday, Aug. 31. She was holding a fish that she had just caught. The photo was taken by Dave Cullum.

She was so excited and now says she is a legend. She also wants to be on the front page every day now. I told her maybe again someday, with a bigger fish.

Thank you again for the excitement and smiles. And thank you, Dave Cullum, for submitting the photo.
