I’d like to thank the unnamed gentleman who stopped his white Ford pickup on Holcomb Drive, about 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 27, to help save my golden retriever who had been viciously attacked by a loose dog.

While I was protecting my small dog, he waded in and pulled the attacker off the golden, who’d never been in any kind of fight, and who had gone into submissive mode.

Although my golden received serious injuries, she is recovering. Without this gentleman’s help, my dog, a beloved family pet, could have been killed.

What a great photo (Ian Ridlon rewards Chelsea with a kiss) on the cover of The Union’s Oct. 10 Sunday Express edition. That one photograph essentially covered everything in the following article contained within – “Saddle Pals works miracles every Monday.”

With enormous gratitude, the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL) is grateful for the 650 volunteers who removed over 11,000 pounds of trash and recycling out of the Yuba and Bear Rivers, Deer, Dry and Wolf Creek watersheds on Sept. 25 for the 13th Annual Greater Yuba Clean-Up and Restoration Day. Thanks to the 16 agencies that hauled the trash away from the 35 sites extending from Donner Summit down to Parks Bar on the lower Yuba River. Acknowledgment also to our major sponsors: REI, KVMR, YubaNet News, Nevada City Self Storage, Briar Patch Co-Op and builders and consumers.
