The Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Coalition would like to give a tremendous thank you to Smith Vineyards Tasting Room and The Northridge of Nevada City Restaurant for supporting Domestic Violence Awareness Month and working to end domestic violence in our community.
Their contributions through the proceeds of purchases and dining contributed more than $700 to help survivors in our community and to stand against domestic violence. Thank you Smith Vineyards, Northridge of Nevada City and all of you who participated. Together we can make a difference!
A big thanks goes out to Larry and Nancy Mello, the owners of Goomba’s Italian Family Restaurant, who hosted an “Evening Out” to benefit United Way of Nevada County recently. It was a great success as many people enjoyed a delicious meal while helping their community at the same time. The owners generously donated 10 percent of all proceeds from the evening to UWNC and its partner agencies. Thank you again!

The KARE Crisis Nursery (Kids’ Assistance and Respite in Emergencies) would like to thank everyone who contributed to our Kare Affaire and Celebrity Costume Fashion Show and Auction on Oct. 16. It was a wonderful evening of companionship and laughter, and the proceeds will help shelter children whose families fall on hard times. Your generosity allows them to laugh as well. For photos and more information, see karecrisisnursery.org.
LivingWell Thrift Store would like to thank the community for responding to the recent article in The Union regarding how the recession is affecting thrift stores in our community. We have seen a significant increase in your donations. I heard a customer say she didn’t realize we needed baby items and she was quick to bring in much needed baby furniture. We rely on the community’s generous donations of new and gently used items to provide free clothing and baby necessities for women and children in need of a helping hand. From all of us at LivingWell, thank you again to all of you who offered your support!
