Kudos letters: Oct. 26, 2010

I was just released from a two-week stay at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, where I was recovering from a very nasty foot wound. I am almost 60 years young, and have been in a number of hospitals over the years. I have never seen the large amount of genuinely concerned staff at any other business ever. From the emergency room staff, the nutrition staff, everyone I met during my stay, kept me fully informed about every aspect of my care. I would just like to express a heartfelt thanks to all these wonderful people.

The Food Bank of Nevada County, on behalf of our program for Project H.O.P.E. , would like to extend a big thank you to all the businesses who generously donated, the volunteers who gave so selflessly, and the members of our community who attended our event.

Without your participation, our event would not have been the success it was.

On Oct. 1, my son was in a bicycle accident in Alta Sierra and had to be life-flighted to UC Davis Childrens Hospital for his injuries. I would like to thank the paramedics, CALSTAR nurse Heather, and Battalion Chief Spike Newby, for their support and expertise during a very emotional and stressful situation.
