On behalf of Music in the Mountains 18th annual Swing Along Golf Tournament held at the beautiful Lake Wildwood Golf Course, I want to graciously thank all the participants, volunteers and sponsors for their contributions to this very popular event. And special thanks to those individuals and businesses that donated items for the raffle and auction for the awards banquet.
Tim the Tree Man did the ball drop from 55 feet in the air and the closest to the hole won $1,000. Chet Butler and Paula Bertness split the prize. We had one qualifier attempt to make a 50-foot putt to win $10,000 sponsored by Penn Valley Rotary Club. Tim Fahey came pretty close. Gold Rush Subaru offered a new Subaru for a hole in one and Nick’s Custom Golf Carts offered a new Club Car Golf Cart for a hole in one. Elan Clinic sponsored a hole in one prize of $5,000 cash.
Congratulations to the winners of their respective flights. And, again, our heartfelt thanks to all of you for supporting Music in the Mountains.
I want to thank Greg Moody, road supervisor for Nevada County, for his speedy response to my plea.
Around Aug. 1, I e-mailed in regards to the road patch on Alta Sierra Drive – at the stop sign by the market. Work done some months before was turning into a sinkhole. Just before Aug. 5, the date of his confirming e-mail, the deepening hole was patched. My Honda’s front end and I thanked him.
Brought to mind when in Portugal years ago, on rural roads, elderly pensioners – male and female – were doing small potholes with a couple of wheelbarrows and the simplest of tools. If they’d teach some of us how, I’d consider doing a few every month … if it’s legal?
Thanks again, Greg Moody.
United Way of Nevada County recently held the 4th annual “BBQ Battle” on Aug. 26. The event was a huge success! We’d like to thank the many volunteers and sponsors who helped to make this special day happen:
Holiday Inn Express, TriContinent, SPD, Grass Valley, Inc., Keichi Beach Bungalows, Sols, B&C True Value Home Center, R.W. Baird & Co., BP Landscapes Inc., Byers’ Leafguard, Quick Response, Scope Landscape Mgmt., Telestream and United Way of Nevada County Board Members, as well as many individuals.
We’d also like to thank everyone on the nine BBQ teams who grilled up some wonderful food for a great cause. Their dedication and delicious food was very much appreciated. A big “thank you” goes out to the community who came out in large numbers to support United Way and have a good time. With friends like these, our community Lives United.
