Junior exhibitor wins big at county fair

Junior exhibitor Bethany Rencher has won a fistful of prizes from the Nevada County Fair, and her whole family will be enjoying the benefits.

Each year, one junior exhibitor is selected to receive 60 carnival rides, 10 admission passes, and a Gate 1 parking pass.

“Thrilled,” is how 8-year-old Bethany described her reaction to being chosen. The fair passes will come in handy, she adds.

There are 11 children in the Rencher family, plus her mom and dad.

The Lake of the Pines youngster entered art work in the fair’s Junior Still Exhibits category.

“We offer the junior exhibitor bonus to encourage the county’s young people to display their talents at the fair,” said Chief Executive Officer Ed Scofield.

The 2002 Nevada County Fair opens today and runs through Sunday. The theme is “Red, White & Blue!” For more information, visit the fair’s Web site at http://www.nevadacountyfair.com, or call 273-6217.
