John Weitzel

Services for John W. Weitzel of Santa Rosa will be conducted at 5 p.m. Thursday at Daniel’s Chapel of the Roses in Santa Rosa.

Mr. Weitzel died Thursday, Oct. 17. He was 85.



He was born Feb. 2, 1917, in Walla Walla, Wash., to John and Katherine Weitzel. He married Martha Raugust in 1939 and they lived in San Francisco, Marin County, Penn Valley and Palm Desert before moving to Santa Rosa.

He founded and operated Viennese Baking Co. in San Francisco and was an avid golfer for more than 60 years, belonging to several golf and country clubs. He was a member of the Lions, Rotary and Kiwanis clubs of San Francisco. He enjoyed woodworking.




He is survived by his wife, Martha; daughter and son-in-law Sandi and Steve Minutoli of Petaluma; daughter-in-law and her husband, Pat Weitzel and Rich Stahlman of Grass Valley; grandchildren and spouses Wendy Weitzel and husband, Scott Wetzlich of Davis, Brian and Ann Weitzel of Roseville, Stephen and Bridget Minutoli of Corte Madera, and Mechelle and Todd Minutoli of Santa Rosa; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill of Grass Valley; and five brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospice, 821 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa 95401.
