Jean Busey

Jean Cole Busey died July 15 in Lincoln after a short illness. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She was 74.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 25, at the First Presbyterian Church of Roseville. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Jean was born and raised in Champaign, Ill., and attended De Pauw University in Indiana. She married James Busey and joined him in a 37 year career in the Navy which took them all over the world.



In their 54 years of marriage she helped him achieve the rank of Admiral and was with him as he assumed high government positions in Washington.

She worked at the Department of State and hosted many dignitaries from many countries when they lived in Europe. She was a superb diplomat and made everyone comfortable.




Jean was active in her church in retirement and was very proud of her children and grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her husband, James Busey of Lincoln; children Angela Presto and husband Mike of Fresno and Nancy Naumann and husband Dennis of Grass Valley; daughter-in-law Charlotte and grandchildren Cole Wheeler, Rose Presto, Jessica and James Busey VI. A sister, Jane Cole, lives in Texas.

She was predeceased by her son, James V.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity or a charity of the donor’s choice.
