Japanese culture camp set for youth

For two one-week sessions Ð from July 9-13 and July 23-27, Aikido’Ka and Grass Valley Taiko will present Japanese Culture Camp for youth of all ages: drumming, martial arts, self-defense, dancing, singing, calligraphy, origami, introductory Japanese language lessons and more.

Aikido and Taiko drumming lead the way at Japanese Culture Camp. By practicing Aikido Ð the “Martial Art of Peace” Ð youth will begin to learn how to avoid and resolve even violent disputes with no one getting hurt.

Aikido’Ka builds community through the “Art of Peace.” Aikido is unique among martial arts by striving for twin goals Ð practicing effective self-defense while hurting no one. It can be applied to maintain very gentle control up to powerful responses.

Both Aikido’Ka and Grass Valley Taiko hold classes for all ages and physical condition. For more information, please call Frank Bloksberg at 478-0170 or 263-8711.
