Irrigation supplies looking good

Nevada Irrigation District is ready for opening day.

Of irrigation season, that is.

Monday is opening day of the irrigation system for the water agency, and supplies are good following a wetter-than-average winter, said Terry Mayfield, NID water operations manager. The April 1 NID snow survey showed the mountain snowpack holds 112 percent of average water content.

“We’re above average on precipitation, and it’s going to be a good water year,” he said. “It’s going to be a good year for everybody: a good year for (hydroelectric generation), a good year for recreation, and a good year for consumptive use.”
