In the service: Andrew Brown

Marine Private First Class Andrew M. Brown, son of Mike and Sharyl Brown of Grass Valley, graduated Sept. 3 from Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego.

During the 13 weeks of Boot Camp, Brown studied Marine Corps history and culture, first aid, rank structure and insignia, customs and courtesies.

He was taught Marine Corps Martial Arts, earning his tan belt, physical fitness, conditioning marches, close order drills, basic warrior training, chemical warfare and bayonet training, rifle marksmanship, earning the Rifle Expert Badge, land navigation, swimming under combat conditions, leadership and team skills.



Brown graduated from Nevada Union High School in 2006.
