Hurt motorcyclist has spinal injuries

A motorcyclist injured in a weekend crash on Highway 49 was in fair condition with spinal injuries Monday, according to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

Steve Haga, a 47-year-old south Nevada County resident, went by helicopter to Sutter Roseville Medical Center after landing on his head and face and losing feeling in his legs, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Haga, who was wearing a helmet, was riding a 2002 Harley Davidson southbound at 11:15 a.m. Saturday when he was sent flying after rear-ending a Toyota Camry near Little Deer Lane.

The Camry driver, 75-year-old Earl Stites of Grass Valley, had slowed for a minor crash that occurred in the same area moments earlier, CHP spokesman Troy Marks said
