Humid heat wave predicted

A humid Midwestern-style heat wave is expected to begin today and last through at least Saturday in western Nevada County.

Foothill residents can expect temperatures in the low to mid-90s during the day, with lows in the lower 60s overnight during the period, according to the National Weather Service in Sacramento.

The hot weather system is expected to produce temperatures in the 100s in the Sacramento Valley and the possibility of thunderstorms in the high Sierra before cooling off Sunday.
