Human remains, possibly female, found Monday in duffel bag

Truckee police are investigating what appears to be the remains of a female found Monday inside a duffel bag left at the parking lot of the Northwoods Clubhouse in Tahoe Donner.

Officials didn’t say how old the victim was or how she died. The body was to be taken to a forensics laboratory in Auburn for identification Monday evening.

At about 3:40 p.m. Monday, a police dispatcher received a call about a bag with blood on it in the parking lot of the lower club house in the 5,000 home upscale subdivision. Shortly thereafter, police cordoned off the area as a crime scene.

Police were handing out fliers in the Tahoe Donner area Monday asking for tips about the case. Anyone with information should call the Truckee Police Department at 550-2320.
