Host families needed for exchange students

If you’d like to host a young guest from Europe, learn about her culture and give her a feel for America, you might consider opening your house to a Lions Club exchange student.

Eight teenagers, aged 16 through 18, are seeking host families in Nevada County from July 5 through 19. The group consists of two young men from Germany and Netherlands and six young women, one each from Italy, Austria, Germany, Norway and two from Finland.

The young visitors speak English, have their own money to spend and are here on a cultural exchange program. After spending two weeks in our area, they’ll go to an international camp in the San Bernardino National Forest and spend two more weeks in Southern California.

Host families need to provide their guests three meals a day, a separate bed and visits to some historic sites in our community. Lions Club will provide orientation to host families.

Those interested can call Leal Portis at 265-3887.
