Several businesses at the Home Center, a collection of shops on Idaho-Maryland Road, were vandalized with graffiti during the weekend.

The graffiti was discovered at 6 a.m. Sunday morning and is believed to have happened after 9 p.m. Saturday, said Mike Tigue, owner of Sierra Tile and Stone, one of the businesses that was vandalized. The damage appeared to have been limited to the rear of the business strip, where the words “Punch” and “Punch530” were spray-painted onto the business and on a wall surrounding it. Graffiti art was also spray-painted in some places.

Randy Young, owner of Youngs Carpet One, said this is the first time the business had been vandalized with graffiti.

“The place is lit up, but it’s private,” Young said. “We don’t have any security cameras, but we will.”

“I think they were just bored,” Young said of the vandals.

Tigue said the owners of the business at the shopping center are offering a $1,000 reward that leads to the arrest of those responsible.

“Beyond the initial disgust, some of it was decent art,” Tigue said. “I don’t mind the artwork. But most of it is kids trying to party. To some degree it’s an education for everyone in the county that this activity that comes from the big cities is here. I am concerned it will happen again.”
