Holbrooke auction delayed until Oct. 12

The auction of the Holbrooke Hotel in downtown Grass Valley has been delayed again, this time until Oct. 12.

This fourth delay by Citizens Bank comes because of a possible sale on the property. The hotel’s owners are in default of a nearly $1.2 million loan from Citizens. The most recent auction was set for Monday.

Asking price for the hotel is still $1.4 million, said Citizens Executive Vice President Michael Behn.

One of the owners, Jim O’Brien, said he couldn’t comment on the status of the pending sale.
