Holbrooke auction delayed a third time

Citizens Bank delayed an auction for the historic Holbrooke Hotel a third time Wednesday.

The hotel’s owners are in default of a nearly $1.2 million loan from Citizens. The auction, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, was pushed back to Monday, Sept. 27, on the steps of the Nevada County Superior Court in Nevada City.

Officials at the bank, based in Nevada City, postponed the auction in the hope the Holbrooke’s owners could close a sale on the struggling property, which is available for $1.4 million, said Vice President Phil Campbell.
