High school district offers pre-paid lunch options

All Nevada Union High School students are offered healthy and scratch-cooked meals which include produce from local farmers and bread products from Truckee Sourdough Company.

Most of these offerings are available to qualified students at no charge.

The Nevada Joint Unified School District encourages parents take a minute to apply for the National School Lunch program.

Not only can a qualified student receive breakfast and lunch at no charge, but he or she will be eligible for many other benefits, including waiver of college admission fees, reduced testing costs, and reduced rates for Comcast Internet.

In addition, it can help schools earn additional state funding, according to NJUHSD.

Another option provided through the district is the opportunity to pay in advance for student lunches.

The district offers an easy-to-use online service to assist.

Funds can be recorded in a student’s account for future use — students simply need to give their student identification number to the cashier and the purchase is deducted from the account.

To access the National School Lunch program application or to put funds on account for a student, go to the district’s website at http://www.njuhsd.com and see the food service program under the parent tab.

For more information, contact the district office at 530-273-3351.
