Heat wave coming Wednesday

Summer isn’t over yet according to the National Weather Service in Sacramento.

After highs in the upper 80s today and Tuesday, a new weather system is expected to push western Nevada County temperatures into the mid-90s Wednesday through Friday.

Despite the daytime heat, cool evenings are predicted in the high 50s to low 60s for tonight through Sunday.

Daytime temperatures are expected to dip back to around 90 for the weekend as yet another weather front moves in from the coast.

No precipitation is predicted from any of the fronts.

The combination of predicted low humidity and strong winds gusts up to 40 mph have caused a red flag fire warning today through 4 p.m. for the eastern slope of the Sierra, including the Tahoe-Truckee region.
