Heard on the street: Opinions of President Bush

As the president prepared to address the Republican National Convention Thursday, The Union asked shoppers in the Brunswick Basin if their opinions of President Bush had changed in the past four years.

“He is a Christian and I hope he goes God’s way. He’s killed many people already, in my opinion.”

– Susan Clark, Redwood City, unregistered voter.

“I think people’s perceptions have changed in the last four years because of the war and the economy. I think it has hurt him a little, from what I hear. The party reflects too much on terrorism and not enough on the economy.”

– Chuck Frevele, Alta Sierra, registered independent

“I never used to bother with politics, but now I see what they are doing to our country. This guy is dangerous. Bush is a snake.”

– James Durbin, near Timbuctoo, Yuba County, unregistered voter

“The events in the last four years have changed. He didn’t plan on going in to the presidency with war.”

– Sandy Rogers, Meadow Vista, registered Republican

“I like him a lot less than I used to. My major reason has to do with what I feel like were lies to the American people and the deficit.”

– Tony Mociun, North San Juan, registered Democrat
