Halloween fun for the little ones

Little dinosaurs and tiny princesses toddled from shop to shop mid-day Wednesday as the early-to-bed set celebrated Halloween in downtown Grass Valley.

The grown-ups handing out treats to the tricksters may have had even more fun, though, with merchants competing in costumes and window-dressing for the “Great Goblin” theme of the Grass Valley Downtown Association’s Safe Trick or Treat.

Winners in the different categories are:

• Best Halloween window: Aimee Taylor.

• Most enthusiastic: Stucki Jewelers.

• Best-costumed business: Acordia/Wells Fargo Insurance.

• Best-costumed theme: Grass Valley City Hall.

• Most child-pleasing: The Center for the Arts.

• Best overall: Citizen’s Bank.

• Special mention: Lyman Gilmore Intermediate School marching band for playing during the event and Rhythms Music Cafe for a spook-tacular haunted house.
