GV man arrested in strong-arm robbery

A Grass Valley man allegedly was the getaway driver in a strong-arm robbery in an Auburn bank parking lot.

Placer County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to a report of a robbery Monday afternoon at the Bank of America at 2885 Bell Road in north Auburn, according to spokeswoman Dena Erwin.

A customer was going to the bank to make cash deposits from a local business, and while she was walking across the parking lot toward the bank, a man allegedly approached and pulled her purse away.

With the help of witness statements, investigators were able to identify the suspect as Joshua Tucker Bidart, 22, of Auburn.

The getaway vehicle allegedly was driven by Dwight Jacob Silva, 22, of Grass Valley.

Both men were charged with robbery and conspiracy. Bidart is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and Silva’s bail is $60,000.

All the stolen property has been recovered, along with all of the cash deposits, Erwin added.
