Grizzly Hill School wins best parade float

Grizzly Hill School, on the San Juan Ridge, won the grand prize for the best float for the 42nd annual Constitution Day Parade, the parade host said Monday.

Sunday’s event saw 75 groups participating, said Cathy Whittlesey, executive manager at the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce.

“They were judged on the basis of things like the theme, the originality of the entry,” Whittlesey said. “First-place winners get a beautiful plaque. Second, third-place winners and honorable mentions get ribbons.”
