A Grass Valley man was killed Saturday in Yuba County after the car he was riding in rolled and crashed on Highway 49.

Michael Clark, 35, was found dead at the scene of the crash from severe head injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Clark was riding with North San Juan resident April Graves, 31, south on Highway 49, north of Oak Valley Drive in Yuba County. Graves drifted her 1995 Ford Escort off the road and overcorrected, police said. The car rolled several times and Clark, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected. The car rolled on top of him, according to CHP.

Graves was wearing a seat belt and suffered moderate injuries including deep cuts to the head and fractured ribs.

The highway patrol is investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
