Officers from the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol booked a 24-year-old Grass Valley man into jail Thursday after reportedly uncovering a stolen vehicle and drugs on his property in conducting a probation search.

According to CHP Sgt. Dee Lavrador, Sheriff’s deputies contacted her office for assistance after finding the car on Casey Ryan Swanson’s residence at the 13000 block of Twin Star Lane.

“When you are on probation, they (officers) have the right to do a search on his property,” Lavrador said. “It turned out that he has a stolen vehicle on his property.”

Swanson was arrested at his home in May 2015 along with Austin Alan Cornell after a multi-agency raid by Nevada City Police Department, the Grass Valley Police Department, the CHP and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force uncovered evidence that the two men were selling stolen vehicle parts and drugs.

Swanson was arrested for the offense while on probation, vehicle theft, receiving stolen properties, and the possession of the controlled substance. He is being held in county jail in lieu of $76,000 bail.
