Grass Valley girl donates hair to Locks of Love

McKenna Hayden, 6, recently donated 10 inches of her blond tresses to Locks of Love, the national nonprofit organization that provides wigs to children who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments or other disease.

McKenna is a first-grader at Union Hill School, just east of Grass Valley. Her aunt, stylist Jaimi Foote of BonBon Salon, cut McKenna’s hair at the girl’s home in Grass Valley.

“She is a very caring little girl and always wanting to give to others,” said McKenna’s mother, Courtney Hayden.

The girl enjoys many sports, including gymnastics, swimming and softball, and she likes to play with babies, her mother said.

That’s a good thing: Her aunt is expecting.
