Grass Valley boy injured in Tahoe City

An unidentified 13-year-old Grass Valley boy was taken to Washoe Medical Center Saturday with serious injuries when he was struck by a vehicle traveling on Granlibakken Road in Tahoe City.

The youth was reported to have lost control of his bicycle while traveling northbound on the frontage road parallel with Route 89, said the California Highway Patrol. The call came in at 10:40 a.m.

He collided with a southbound 2004 Ford Mustang driven by Ian G. Young, a 61-year-old man from Queensland, Australia. Young was not hurt.

Care Flight transported the boy.
