Good Samaritan dies

A 46-year-old Truckee man struck by a car on Thanksgiving morning has recently passed away.

Traveling westbound on Interstate 80 near Floriston on Nov. 23, Kevin Macrorie stopped his vehicle to help a stranded motorist, only to be struck by another vehicle on the icy highway. He remained in a coma for more than three months before dying.

“He was a guy who would have done anything for anyone,” said his sister, Debbie Macrorie. “His death has left a great-big, gaping hole”

A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Squaw Valley on Saturday, March 31 at 10 a.m.
