"Golden Pond" writer to visit Nevada City

Ernest Thompson, the man who wrote the play “On Golden Pond,” will speak at a fundraiser for the Foothill Theatre Company at 7 p.m. Sept. 29 in Nevada City.

Thompson wrote the classic tale 30 years ago, when he was 28. It later became an award-winning movie about family, growing, aging and confronting one’s fears starring Henry Fonda, his daughter Jane Fonda and Katherine Hepburn.

Thompson, an Academy Award-winning author, will discuss the play’s connection to him personally, present clips of films made from his works and share anecdotes about some of the film and theater legends he has worked with.

Tickets are $35 general and $50 for premium reserved seating close to the stage. Premium ticket-holders may attend an after-show private reception with Thompson including wine and dessert.

For tickets, call 265-8587. Seating is limited.
