The October Scooter’s Pals adoptathon is this coming Saturday at Scooter’s Place, 1781 East Main St., in Grass Valley from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the dogs will be there looking for homes before Halloween.

Sammie’s pooches are also invited and expected to join in, maybe in costume.

Trainer John Garcia will be on hand to answer questions about dog behavior and work with any dogs that need a bit of hands-on direction.

Halloween costumes for the pups are available at Scooter’s Pals store along with other treats and things.

And the next day, the sixth annual Haunted Pumpkin Patch (across from the fairgrounds) is on Sunday, where cars and pumpkins and kids and buggy rides and all kinds of Halloween festivities will occur.

They have chosen Scooter’s Pals as their charity this year to share their proceeds to our dogs and animals in need.

There will be a Trunk or Treat from noon to 2 p.m., with a pet costume contest.

The Haunted House is from noon to 9:30 p.m., and costs $5 for everyone until 5 p.m., then $5 kids, $10 adults after 5 p.m.

Fifty percent of the proceeds on Sunday will go to Scooter’s Pals.
