Girl Scout cookie sales start today

They’re here!

Hundreds of local Girl Scouts started staffing tables at western Nevada County businesses Friday to sell Girl Scout cookies.

Their troops earn 55 cents for each box sold. They use the money for special activities, including going to camp, snowboarding, skiing, movies, golf and other events, Penn Valley troop leader Shannon Warner said.

Sales hours will vary by location. The funds support about 50 troops with 358 members in western Nevada County.

There should be plenty of cookies available. A truck delivered more than 37,000 cases.
