Girl, 9, seeks insulin pump

A Chicago Park girl who has to inject herself up to a dozen times a day to combat her diabetes is seeking help to afford an insulin pump.

Dorothy Hejny, 9, has Type 1 Diabetes so bad that she has to check her blood sugar level before she goes to bed to see if she needs an insulin shot to ward off shock. Dorothy’s parents, John and Merry Hejny, have an income too high for assistance and yet cannot afford to pay for the $6,500 pump while raising their family.

Those wishing to donate can do so in person or by sending a check to “Dorothy’s Cause” at the Auburn Community Bank, 500 Auburn Folsom Road, Suite 200, Auburn, CA 95603.

You can also raise money for Dorothy by doing business at Stewart Title, 3461 Fair Oaks, Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95864, phone 916-484-6504, or at Filmworks Photography, 1226 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA, 95603, phone 823-1134.
