Gibson’s autograph up for auction

An autographed shooting script of Mel Gibson’s upcoming film, “We Were Soldiers,” will be among the items auctioned at tonight’s fund-raiser for the Friendship Club at McDonald’s in Grass Valley.

The winning bidder will also get two tickets to view the film at Sierra Cinemas when the movie opens in March.

Other items to be auctioned include an aerial home photograph and a “Day at the Ballpark” in San Francisco with hotel accommodations, dinner and box seats for six at a Giants game.

The Friendship Club is a nonprofit organization that offers educational and emotional support to adolescent girls in Nevada County. All proceeds from the auction will support club activities and programs, including after-school tutoring, technology education and a summer day camp.

A few tickets remain for the 7:30 p.m. dinner-auction. To reserve space, call the club at 265-4311.
