Gearing up for snow

The Sierra College Nevada County Campus hosted a free Chain-Up event Wednesday.

Participants included the Nevada County Office of Emergency Services, the California Highway Patrol, Durham Transportation, Nevada County Public Works, Gold Country Transit, the Nevada County Campus Associated Students of Sierra College, the Nevada County Department of Transportation, Caltrans and Riebe’s Auto Parts. Demonstrations and instructions on proper installation of tire chains and cables were offered, along with winter safety preparedness checklists, winter driving tips and awareness of local agencies involved in winter weather response and collaboration.

Snow traction device installation demos were provided, and Riebe’s Auto Parts checked windshield wiper blades, headlights, turn signals and batteries.
