From the Superintendent

As Superintendent of the Penn Valley Union Elementary School District, I am honored to share the below message from one of our students.

Dear families, my name is Jayden Yokom. My brother Ryan Yokom and many other local firefighters from Cal Fire are helping in the fight against the Butte and Valley Fires.

I and my Girl Scout Troop #192 are asking for your help.

The Valley fire and Butte fire has burned over 816 homes at this time and many families are in need of everyday items.

Please if you can help these families in donating any of the items that we are collecting at all of our schools, my school Pleasant valley school, were I attend as a fourth grader, Williams’s Ranch School, Ready Springs School and Vantage Point Charter. You can bring any donation to the four school offices. We will collect as much as possible.

Here is a list of items needed:

Toothbrushes, soap, towels, sleeping bags, bedding items, warm clothing, tents, diapers, formula, baby food, feed, pet supplies non-perishable food, school supplies, back packs (Middletown school was totally burned down) And most importantly Gift Card to Department Stores, Grocery Stores, Pet stores and Restaurants will help the families so much. It will take time help to get these families through this devastating tragedy, but we can make a difference! We live in a wonderful community and want to show support for those in need.

Thank you,

Jayden Yokom
