Friendship Club holds early Thanksgiving for its members
November 11, 2008
Last night, 56 girls from The Friendship Club were joined by community members to celebrate Thanksgiving with a traditional turkey dinner prepared for them by volunteers at the Grass Valley United Methodist Church.
This event gave the girls a chance to enjoy a delicious dinner and to express what they are thankful for in their lives. Four high school girls spoke to the group and told them about how much they appreciated the support they received from The Friendship Club and the encouragement they have received from their volunteer mentors, known as Angels.
“Our Thanksgiving celebration is a special time for our girls to gather, not only with their friends and the staff, but with board members, donors, and community members who care about them,” said Friendship Club Executive Director Jennifer Singer. “This dinner has become a favorite “family” tradition at The Friendship Club.”
The Friendship Club is a nonprofit group that strives to help disadvantaged adolescent girls into the community.
